Redcap's Corner Pathfinder
Half-giants are humanoids with the giant and human subtypes. Unlike normal giants, they do not have racial hit dice. They have the following racial traits:
+2 to One Ability Score: Half-giant characters get a +2 bonus to one ability score of their choice at creation to represent their varied nature.
Medium: Half-giants are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Normal Speed: Half-giants have a base speed of 30 feet.
Low-Light Vision: Half-giants can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.
Giant Blood: Half-giants count as both giants and humans for any effect related to race.
Giant Skill: Intimidate and Perception are always class skills for a half-giant.
Powerful Build: The physical stature of half-giants lets them function in many ways as if they were one size category larger. Whenever they are subject to a size modifier, or special size modifier for an opposed combat maneuver check, they are treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to them. Half-giants are also considered to be one size larger when determining whether another creature’s special attacks based on size (such as grab or swallow whole) can affect them. Half-giants can use weapons designed for creatures one size larger without penalty. However, their space and reach remain those of a creature of their actual size. The benefits of this racial trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject’s size category.
Weapon Familiarity: Half-giants are proficient with ogre hooks (Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting, pg. 209) and treat any weapon with the word “giant” or “ogre” in its name as a martial weapon.
Languages: Half-giants begin play speaking Common and Giant. Half-giants with high Intelligence scores can choose from among the following bonus languages: Dwarven, Goblin, Gnoll, and Orc.
FAVOURED CLASS OPTIONS
Instead of receiving an additional skill rank or hit point whenever they gain a level in a favoured class, half-giants have the option of choosing from a number of other bonuses, depending upon their favoured class. The following options are available to all half-giants who have the listed favoured class, and unless otherwise stated, the bonus applies each time you select the listed favoured class reward.
Barbarian: The barbarian gains 1/4 of a rage power.
Oracle: Reduce the non-proficient penalty for one weapon by 1. When the non-proficient penalty for a weapon becomes 0 because of this ability, the oracle is treated as having the appropriate Martial (Core Rulebook, pg. 130) or Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Core Rulebook, pg. 123) feat with that weapon.
Ranger: Add +1 hit point to the ranger’s animal companion. If the half-giant ever replaces his or her animal companion, the new animal companion gains these bonus hit points.
Sorcerer: Select either the cold or fire descriptor. Add +1/4 to the sorcerer’s caster level when he or she casts a spell with the appropriate descriptor.
